IP Phones, Video Conferencing to See Big Changes

May 11, 2017

It's easy to see, just from the last year or so, how much the video conferencing and IP phone markets have changed. New products, new services and new use cases have made this market look very little like what it once did. Now, a new report has emerged from Research N Reports that suggests the market is once again set for some fairly sweeping changes in both video conferencing and IP phones.

With the newest report, we get a look at the overall video conferencing market, ranging from product definition to analyses on the supply chain and the overall vendor landscape. One of the biggest uses in the field going forward, the report notes, is in motion detection.

Motion detection is used in a wide variety of cases, as it's used not only in government applications, but in applications beyond the government field as well.  Several other uses are also in play here, including facial recognition systems, traffic management, and intrusion detection, just for starters.

One operation that's particularly interested in developments in both the video conferencing and IP phone markets is Yealink (News - Alert). With a variety of devices and platforms on hand in the video collaborations field—ranging from whole-room systems to desktop and mobile video applications to even meeting servers—Yealink has the tools on hand to address many of the common uses noted previously in video conferencing applications.

The good news about this report is that it illustrates so thoroughly the number of potential applications for video conferencing and IP phones that the market can enjoy. With uses in government and private operations, with each able to take advantage of a number of use cases within their chosen field, it's clear that video conferencing and IP phone systems have the necessary versatility to deliver value, in a big way.

A system that can be used in so many different ways, on so many different fronts, is a system that's likely to be used heavily for some time to come. Frequent use commonly implies good value—things that aren't as valuable tend to be forgotten about, shoved off to the side, and eventually thrown out—and there's no doubt that video conferencing and IP phones will deliver that level of value for users for some time to come. The future of this market looks bright, as value tends to maintain its position regardless of the kind of economy it's operating in. That means great things to come, not just for companies like Yealink, but also for the end users in the field.
