Skype for Business Security Strengthened with Armour Mobile

February 24, 2017

Technology is serving to make the world two things: smaller and mobile. Firms far and wide, small and large are not just transitioning to IP communications, but mobile IP solutions to ensure business can take place anywhere, anytime. In addition to the mobile movement, innovation in video conferencing and its sibling technologies is making the world a much smaller space, offering face-to-face interactions from Tokyo to New York at the push of button.

The ability to communicate is phenomenal, however the ability to communicate securely is paramount, and this week Armour Communications announced a successful integration with Skype (News - Alert) for Business to provide completely secure communications for end users.

Armour Mobile is utilizing standard Cisco (News - Alert) SIP-based technology to integrate with the highly popular collaboration platform, and provide team members with the ability to communicate over video or audio in a secure fashion. Armour mobile is allowing businesses to take advantage of the cost savings by leveraging VoIP, and protecting an organization’s precious data by linking calls to a Cisco Meeting Server via the Armour Connect Gateway (News - Alert).

David Holman, a director at Armour Communications commented, “Armour Mobile is the first fully secure mobile communications platform to provide integration with a unified communications service, including conferencing. Skype for Business is a popular choice with customers and we are now able to extend its use by offering Armour Mobile users integration with the service wherever they are in the world. This enables our customers to participate in secure audio and video conferencing and call Skype for Business users from their Armour Mobile app.”

Deployment is as simple as downloading and activating the app; literally placing users minutes away from secured collaboration.

As Skype for Business continues to build momentum, so too is its list of partners. It’s important to remember that supplying a communications service is one thing, but without the proper IP phones or security the communications experience can be tainted.

So while the world continues to shrink, security must remain front of mind – well played, Armour.
