PortaOne Certifies Interoperability with AudioCodes' IP Phones
Sometimes to make an already great solution even better, it must become interoperable with other solutions. At least, that was the mindset behind PortaOne (News - Alert) and AudioCodes’ decision to make their solutions compatible with each other. PortaOne announced yesterday that it has officially completed interoperability testing between its PortaSwitch unified softswitch and B/OSS (Business and Operation Support System) and AudioCodes’ (News - Alert) line of 400HD IP business phones.
PortaOne’s B/OSS and PortaSwitch products enable telecommunication service providers and carriers to run various retail, enterprise, SME and wholesale services on a single integrated software platform. Meanwhile, AudioCodes’ 400HD IP phones are one of its most popular lines for businesses. According to the announcement, “All phones in the series are equipped with state-of-the-art, high definition technology and HD OPUS voice quality. OPUS is an advanced open-source codec that adjusts to bandwidth dynamically during a call. The codec ensures voice quality regardless of fast-changing network capabilities, demands and restrictions, and can reduce ITSP infrastructure expense by consuming only 30 percent to 50 percent of required bandwidth.”
Clearly, the solutions are effective on their own, meaning that they’ll be even better now that they can be used together. One of the most important parts of the interoperability testing was when PortaOne verified auto-provisioning support via the PortaBilling component of PortaSwitch. This support ensures that service providers will be able to simplify the process of installing and provisioning large numbers of AudioCodes 400HD Series handsets.
Andriy Zhylenko (News - Alert), CTO of PortaOne, described the importance of this particular asset by saying, “Provisioning can be one of the most labor-intensive aspects of business account management for telecommunication service providers. The ability for customer end-users to simply plug in their AudioCodes 400HD Series phone, listen to the welcoming message, and begin using their phone immediately—with no system administrator assistance—is a major benefit for all involved.”
Zhylenko also emphasized the need for effective provisioning by pointing out that more and more companies and telecom operators are choosing AudioCodes handsets. Now that the company has PortaSwitch on its side, the provisioning process will be easier than ever. This will result in happier customers and, consequently, better business for both PortaOne and AudioCodes.
