SoftBank Launches PrimeMeeting

December 16, 2016

In recent weeks, Japanese telecommunications firm SoftBank has been making efforts to keep up with the rest of the world in terms of mobility. The company just signed an agreement with Dialpad regarding its pure-cloud business communications solution, and now it’s taking things a step further.

Following the agreement with Dialpad, SoftBank has now started working with Polycom (News - Alert) as well. The company has just launched PrimeMeeting, a new cloud videoconferencing service, which utilizes Polycom RealPresence Clariti infrastructure software.

The PrimeMeeting service will hopefully strengthen SoftBank’s offerings to customers looking for flexible video collaboration solutions. PrimeMeeting is simple to purchase and deploy, making it very appealing to a workforce that is looking to go mobile.

This service will provide users with Polycom’s HD collaboration experience as a cloud-based service from anywhere in the world. Users can also access the service from any device they choose, enabling mobility and flexibility. As an added bonus, PrimeMeeting supports integration for users of Microsoft (News - Alert) Skype for Business and other traditional videoconferencing systems. That way, switching to PrimeMeeting is as easy as possible for anyone interested in using the product.

SoftBank is excited about the new developments it is bringing out, and hopes that it will play a part in mobilizing the currently stagnant workforce. “We are happy to announce the launch of our “Cloud Video Conferencing Service, ‘PrimeMeeting’ provided in collaboration with Polycom. Customers who previously could not use a video conferencing service due to cost, location, or device issues will now be able to easily adopt this service,” said Sadahiro Sato, Senior Vice President and ICT Innovation Division Director of SoftBank Corp.

With any luck, PrimeMeeting will find success in Japan. This new offering, combined with SoftBank’s other agreements, is sure to help the company make a name for itself in the mobility market.
